House of Chamfers, a contemporary dupleix residence situated in a tight urban site at the heart of Puducherry. The brief is to provide a three bedroom dupleix residence with ample ventilation and natural lighting and an additional double bedroom residence that could be let for lease. The challenge was to fit all the programmatic requirements into the plot area of 1800 sq.ft. The built form is envisioned as a monolithic concrete block with facets creating voids and projections for windows and architectural features. The idea is to provide a contrasting and a unique elevation using facets that resemble the chamfers carved out on a stone block. The facet lines have been continued onto highlight other features like gate and windows to provide the same language.
